Bought it for my 13 year old grandson. He loves it!! He has already animated a 5 second drawing he made!!

Not what I had hoped this title would be. The images look like photocopies of photocopies in black and white and were completely unreadable. The table of contents also didn't match up with the contents of the book. I'm not sure if the copy I received was misprinted. Other than that, I found this wasn't as friendly of content for a true beginner and as a visual learner, the images of a book are very important to me. I returned my copy.

It has been a while since I come across an Adobe Animate book that provides a complete practical guide for readers to teach them this amazing application–used to called Flash in the old days. I overviewed the book and what I really liked that the structured organization for the different features and tool that can be easily noticed from the title’s table of content.Going through the pages, I liked the easy flow of the information and supporting it with graphics and steps. It makes it easy to follow for beginners who haven’t worked with the Adobe Animate CC before. The titles in the book are catchy without distracting the learners from the standard terms.As I am teaching digital design, I find the book is a good manual for professors to use in there classes to teach the application based on its flow and use it as a guide for the students to follow up with what is presented in classrooms. I went through a couple of examples and unlike the other books, I can find the examples in this book easy to follow and targeting each technical feature. I guess this was intended as both the authors are Adobe Education Leaders and have written many books about Adobe Flash.To be honest, I wished to see the book interior designed in a better way to highlight the useful notes that you can see inline with the other examples. Using colored text or adding these notes could highlight it more.Overall, I believe this is a very good book to learn Adobe Animate CC and I recommend reading it before jumping to other advanced titles. This book will help you to absorb the basics of the application before moving to other learning resources.

I am using this text to teach a Digital Media course to high school students. I thought the content of the material was good, but it could have used another round of editing as the instructions are sometimes a bit off. I had to contact the author in order to actually get all of the digital files for the exercises. It is also worth noting that the digital copy includes color images while the print copy is only in black and white. Some of the images in the print copy do lose their effectiveness due to the lack of color.

Mencken. Best know for his dissenting essay, The Negro-Art Hokum, Schuyler (1895-1977) mocked most of the more prominent representatives of the Harlem Renaissance, and asks in this rollicking bit of speculative fiction: What if black people could change themselves to white? Inspired by popular products for skin-lightening, Schuyler imagines the discovery of a process that transforms Negroes into white people, and then watches all hell break loose. When Dr. Junius Crookman promises a three-day makeover, Max Disher, a dapper insurance agent with a taste for yallah gals, thinks of one thingall the ofay girls he can now pursue, especially a snobby cracker who snubbed him in a Harlem night club. For fifty bucks, Max is one of Crookmans first patients and emerges from his Frankenstein-like office with his new pork-colored skin. But Maxs glorious new adventure turns ugly right away: his old friends reject him; his landlady accuses him of no race pride, and worsehe finds white people less courteous and less interesting. The country too grows increasingly hysterical: the South calls for congressional action, and the infrastructure of Negro philanthropy begins to crumble. Scuyler smartly postulates the response of official black leadership, and saves his most damning portraits for characters who represent Garvey, DuBois, and Booker T., all of whom ultimately give in to the new process. Maxs dilemma is simpler: he tries to figure out a way to capitalize off his new identity, and soon becomes the right hand man to the Rev. Givens, the grand poobah of the Knights of Nordica, and eventually marries his daughter, the very same girl from that night in Harlem. One problem remains, the whitening process doesnt pass to babies, so Max lives with the fear that his offspring will be his undoing. Not to worry, though, for events overwhelm all in this increasingly outrageous novel. As the hypocrisies mount, and the number of Negroes diminish, calls for racial purity increase. But the frantic researches into genealogy have an unintended resultand one that Schuyler himself constantly arguedthat most white people have dusky ancestors, or as the Rev. Givens so aptly puts it, I guess were all niggers now. Schuylers miscegenetic ideas on race fuel this well-written look at chromatic democracy, a novel that prefigures both Ray Bradbury and Ralph Ellison.
